Katrina Walker

Katrina Walker, a data scientist and entrepreneur originally from San Francisco Bay Area, is committed to creating a world where tech is accessible to everyone, regardless of gender or background. After starting as a social worker, she later carried out social research with institutes such as the University of California, San Francisco and the University of Ber'Sheva Israel. In 2016, Katrina moved to Barcelona to explore the rising tech scene from a data science perspective.

Katrina's work at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center led to her launching CodeOp, a venture-backed social venture aimed at addressing the gender disparity in tech through technical training and partnerships with local and regional governments, NGOs, and corporates. CodeOp, which is Barcelona's first coding school for women+, has attracted students from over 70 countries worldwide and offers a range of courses to equip them with the technical and soft skills required to succeed in the tech industry.

Katrina's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in tech has led to her being recognized as a thought leader in the industry, and she is a sought-after speaker at conferences and events worldwide. CodeOp's success has been recognized by venture capitalists, and the school has partnered with companies such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Uber to provide students with access to the latest tools and technologies. Katrina's leadership has also been acknowledged by Forbes, who named her one of the "30 under 30" in the European technology industry in 2019.
