Eng. Ibrahim Mahmoud El-Araby

Eng. Ibrahim Mahmoud El-Araby is an engineer by education and an industrialist and trader by profession. He has worked for almost half a century in the family-owned El Araby Group, where he progressed to become the CEO and head of its executive committee and later theGroup Vice Chairman.

During his tenure, he was instrumental in expanding the group's portfolio and establishing industrial complexes, making El Araby Group the leading manufacturing and trading name in Africa and the Middle East for electronics, white and durable goods. Today, the group manufactures and distributes its own brands as well as leading international brandswith a turnover exceeding US$ 4 billion.

Eng. El Araby has been actively involved in public service throughout his career. He has served on the boards of various industrial zones, investor's associations, and business councils, chairing TVET programs, technological universities, and the Egypt Japan Business Council. He has also chaired the Cairo Chamber of Commerce for three terms and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers for one term. Currently, he serves as the chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers, the Union of African Chambers, the vice chairman of the Islamic Chamber, and the treasurer of the Union of Arab Chambers.

Eng. El Araby has also co-chaired various business councils, including the African Chinese, Turkish, Japanese, and Korean Chambers, and the Egypt Japan and Egypt Kuwait Business Councils. He also sits on the board of tens of government bodies, including the Electricity and the Water Regulatory Authorities, the Export Development Fund, the IPR Authority, and the Social Insurance Fund.

Beyond his professional commitments, Eng. El Araby is highly observant of his corporate social responsibility. He has established and run hospitals, schools, mosques, and orphanages, besides supporting start-ups, innovators, and sports, providing scholarships, and conducting a host of environmental and NEETS initiatives throughout the country.
