Mehmet Sami
Mehmet Sami is a prominent figure in the fields of corporate finance, private equity advisory, and capital markets in Turkey. Born and raised in London, he studied at Forest School before pursuing higher education. He obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Economics from Kingston University, London, and later completed his MSc in Business Systems Analysis & Design from City University, London.
With over32 years of experience, Mr. Sami has held significant positions in renowned institutions such as Finansbank, EuroturkBank, Ata Invest, and Deloitte. Notably, he played a pivotal role in establishing and leading Ata Invest's Investment Banking, Research, and Institutional Trading divisions, which became one of the largest independent firms in Turkey. After spending nearly 19 years at Ata Invest, Mr. Sami joined Deloitte Corporate Finance as the Lead M&A and Debt Advisory Partner. During his tenure, he also served on the Deloitte Global M&A Executive Committee. His expertise contributed to the establishment of an international client base and a comprehensive network, enabling him to successfully undertake various Turkish privatization projects, cross-border M&A deals, and large international joint ventures in Turkey.
Recently, Mehmet Sami founded a Corporate Advisory and M&A Boutique named "Pretium Advisory" in Istanbul. Pretium Advisory plays a dual role by assisting corporates, multinationals, and financial sponsors in market entry strategy and M&A execution, while also providing corporate advisory solutions to banks, international financial institutions (IFIs), and other corporates. Some notable clients serviced by Pretium Advisory include GE Capital, NewsCorp, AIG Capital, IFC, JBIC, Sabanc?, Akfen, and the Privatization Administration of Turkey. Furthermore, Pretium Advisory serves as the M&A Partner of Wells Fargo Securities (USA).
In addition to his corporate endeavours, Mehmet Sami has made significant contributions to the restructuring and establishment of corporate governance standards in several Turkish corporations, serving as an Independent Director. He also holds positions on the boards of numerous professional, social, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Recognized for his expertise and leadership, Mehmet Sami serves as an Advisory Board member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey, further strengthening his ties between the UK and Turkey in the business realm.
