Thomas Bach
Thomas Bach, born on December 29, 1953, in Würzburg, Germany, is a prominent figure in the world of sports. He has achieved success both as an athlete and in sports administration. Bach's notable accomplishments includewinning a gold medal in fencing (team foil) at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal.
Bach has made significant contributions to the Olympic movement throughout his career. He served asan athletes' representative at the XI Olympic Congress in 1981and wasa founding member of the IOC's Athletes' Commission.In 1991, he became an IOC memberand later held positions such as a member of the IOC Executive BoardandIOC Vice-Presidentfor over a decade. Bach has alsochaired various IOC Commissions.
On September 10, 2013,Bach was elected as the ninth President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).He was re-elected for a second term in March 2021, continuing his leadership in the Olympic movement.
