Angelica Lo Duca
Angelica Lo Duca is currently a researcher at the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the National Research Council (IIT-CNR) in Italy, where she has worked since 2012. She focuses on Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Storytelling, Data Journalism, and Web Applications. She is also an adjunct professor of Data Journalism at the University of Pisa, where she has been teaching since 2020.
She has published multiple books, includingData Storytelling with Python Altair and Generative AI(Manning Publications),Learning and Operating Presto(O'Reilly Media),Comet for Data Science(Packt Publishing), andBecome a Great Data Storyteller(Wiley). Her work has also led to over 40 scientific papers published at national and international conferences and journals. Additionally, Angelica has participated in several national and international research projects.
Angelica has been involved in various tech and research projects, includingClaviusOnTheWeb, a platform for the works of Christophorus Clavius, andOpeNER, a project focused on Natural Language Processing.
Angelica has contributed significantly to the development of the data science field, especially in the areas of data visualisation and storytelling. She is a frequent writer and blogger, sharing insights on data science, Python, and web applications. She also co-authoredLearning and Operating Prestoand is currently working on projects related to data storytelling with AI tools likeChatGPTand DALL-E.
She completed her PhD in Computer Science at the University of Pisa, where she focused on secure cooperation in challenging networks. Prior to that, she earned a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, both with honours.
