Darren Woods is an American business executive who currently serves as the Chairman and CEO ofExxon Mobil Corporation, one of the world's largest publicly traded multinational oil and gas companies.He assumed the role of CEO in January 2017,succeeding Rex Tillerson, who became the United States Secretary of State.
Darren Woods was born on January 6, 1964, in Wichita, Kansas, United States. He earned a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University in 1987 and later obtained a Master's degree in business administration fromNorthwestern University's Kellogg School of Managementin 1992.
Woods began his career with Exxon Company International in 1992as a planning analyst. He quickly progressed through various management positions within the company, including roles in the United States, Thailand, and Singapore.In 2002, he became the manager of ExxonMobil's Angola operations, overseeing the company's activities in the country's oil and gas industry.
Throughout his career, Woods held numerous leadership positions within ExxonMobil, including Vice President of ExxonMobil Development Company and President of ExxonMobil Refining & Supply Company.In 2014, he was appointed as a Senior Vice President of Exxon Mobil Corporationand became a member of the company's Management Committee.
